Incubating Freedom for Ukraine: Know-how for the future

300 war refugees from Ukraine will take part in IT and TECH training in three countries: Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary, but this is only the beginning of a series of activities planned in the Incubating Freedom for Ukraine project. The organizers intend to reach one million people with this information!

The project partners are the universities: the University of Gdańsk, Czech Tomas Bata University in Zlin, Loránd Eötvös University in Budapest, Kyiv University of Technology. Igor Sikorski (KPI) and the Perspektywy Educational Foundation. The assumptions are ambitious but, according to its creators, absolutely realistic: 65% of beneficiaries should find employment using their newly acquired skills within 6 months of completing the training, and 80% of participants should notice that the project increased their confidence in the idea of professional retraining and competences needed for positions. technical. The training will last on average 40 hours.

The priority of the project is to support and adapt European vocational education and training systems to the war in Ukraine. It was therefore necessary to create a consortium, which includes the academic partner from Ukraine - Kyiv Technical University. Igor Sikorski (KPI), which brings added value to the project - knowledge of potential training participants and facilitates reaching a specific target group.

The Ukrainian partner provides the necessary socio-cultural context necessary to develop effective pilot training and then create a universal support strategy for Ukrainian refugees. KPI has already conducted two analytical studies on issues related to this project. Based on the results of this research, KPI established cooperation with the Ukrainian Talent Foundation (UTF) and the Perspektywy Educational Foundation to develop distance learning courses in the field of IT. These courses are intended for refugee women from Ukraine who fled to Poland due to Russia's aggression. Courses such as Python for Beginners, Java for Beginners, Microsoft Office 101, Computer Graphics and Website Design have already been created.

The institutions involved in the project will become centers of reflection and practical know-how on this topic in their countries, as well as in the context of future international partnerships. They will learn and check how to optimally structure and conduct retraining training for adults in the IT&TECH industry. This is a resource with great potential, as each of the partner countries (like other European countries) faces a shortage of workers with these skills. The know-how created as part of the project can be used for the needs of larger groups of refugees, but also for the needs of local marginalized groups, often excluded from the labour market, such as mothers returning to the labour market, disabled people, women 60+, migrants of both sexes from countries other than Ukraine.

IFU will be promoted through an information and promotion campaign in social, electronic and traditional media in the project countries - Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Ukraine.

The key goal of the project is to disseminate knowledge about it. The partners plan to take advantage of the opportunities offered by many Erasmus+ online platforms to implement and communicate the project. They will regularly share the project results on the Erasmus+ Project Results Platform so that all interested parties have access to them. In this way, relevant stakeholders can also connect directly with project partners.

One million people - this is the planned scope of promotional campaigns promoting the idea of retraining in the IT and TECH area and a new start on the labour market among migrant communities. Let's start now...
