"Poland and its Migrants" conference
The Incubating Freedom for Ukraine project is entering its final phase. On June 5, Dr. Sara Bojarczuk, Head of the Socio-Cultural Research Group in the Centre of Migration Research at the University of Warsaw, has presented a paper entitled Unlocking opportunities: Leveraging IT and Education 4.0 for the integration of Ukrainian refugees across the EU – the case of Poland during the Poland and its Migrants’ conference at University College London.
The conference concerned the possibilities of using modern technologies and flexible educational paths to support the integration of female refugees from Ukraine into the labour market. Dr. Sara Bojarczuk presented the Incubating Freedom for Ukraine project, emphasizing the complexity of the situation in which it was created: from language barriers and differences in the recognition of qualifications, through trauma and lack of childcare, to the diverse conditions in EU countries. In her lecture she also emphasised the importance of psychosocial factors and the flexibility of the educational offer in shaping the educational offer for refugees.
The presentation was met with great interest among conference participants and was assessed as very timely and valuable. The comments drew attention to, among others, initiatives supporting the technology sector in less vulnerable regions, as well as the need for broader systemic support for refugee women in the area of mental health. The inclusion of soft components in the strategy – such as mentoring, care for emotional well-being or community support – which are often omitted in integration projects, but are crucial in the process of education and career development, gained particular recognition.
